The research will include gathering information from the relevant state departments, partner organizations, and data sources. The activities will include: assistance with media work, mailings, creating flyers, and event support. SOCM’s overall goal with this work is to achieve a clean energy economy in Tennessee through the promotion/creation of green-collar jobs. We plan to do this by influencing the state to adopt our criteria and values to support “green-collar” companies and jobs in Tennessee. The green-collar jobs internship will offer support by aiding outreach efforts to achieve higher visibility for our campaign, and support our knowledge base through research.

The hoped for outcome of the internship will be to compile and produce a list of potential green-collar job programs and track the money coming from the state to the county, city, and town levels in TN. The purpose of the list is to enable the public to influence the local distribution of money and understand what programs and opportunities have already been created.

The intern will need access to a computer, the internet and a phone and can work from home. Use of equipment and office supplies at the Lake City or Jackson offices (whichever is closer) are available by appointment.
