Here are some ways you can help reduce our reliance on dirty energy sources such as coal and nuclear and help build an economy in Tennessee.

Start a Conversation- Talk energy with your friends and family. Do your neighbors open the windows instead of turning on the air conditioning? Do your friends carpool to work? Don't be afraid to compare energy bills. Maybe someone has a trick for using less electricity in their home. Join our discussion on our Green Collar Jobs page!

Tell Us Your Story- Over the next several months, we'll be collecting stories from members about what they're doing to reduce their energy consumption. Post on our discussion page on the Green Collar Jobs page or talk with our resident expert and Green Collar Jobs Organizer Katie Greer. You could be featured in our E-Newsletter and win some SOCM gear! You can reach Katie at or 865-249-7488.

Join SOCM- Become part of a 2,000-member, 40-year-old organization that is working for a future with renewable energy sources. Together, we can make a difference.

Receive our E-Newsletter and Action Alerts- Our bi-monthly E-Newsletter keeps SOCM members and fans up-to-date with SOCM activities. We also have a great calendar of events surely to feature something in your area of the state. Action Alerts are sent out occassionally when we need to mobilize our friends.

Sign Up for a TVA In-Home Energy Audit- TVA has created a quick and easy way for you to find out how to make your home or business more energy efficient. A TVA-certified evaluator will inspect your home or business and make recommendations on how to make your space more energy efficient. Recommendations can range from caulking to replacing your lighbulbs with LED lights, to changing the size of your water heater or upgrading your appliances. Many common recommendations can be done by you for a small investment, but can make a big difference in your utility bills! Tennessee also offers rebates for certain improvements.

Donate to SOCM- We are a member-run organization and we rely heavily on your support. Donations help us continue the important work that we do to improve the quality of life and protect the environment for all who live in and visit Tennessee.
