Community Unity Night 2010

Join the Bedford County Chapter for a night of discussion and fellowship as we explore how to strenthen unity in our community among diverse peoples.

Join community members for an informational event about Public Chapter No. 1112, a new law that requires all jailers to determine the immigration status of every person arrested for any period. Panelists will address concern, confusion, and questions and ask:
Is this law a new civil rights issue?

Since its inception, the Bedford county chapter has worked to unite the community regardless of people’s age, color, or culture. The chapter staged Community Unity Night, an event co-sponsored by The Welcoming Tennessee Initiative of Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition and El Centro Latino on November 6, 2008. A great mix of people of different races and religions participated in this event. A panel of community leaders spoke about finding common ground around the Golden Rule, and a community discussion flowed on how to promote strength in unity in Bedford County.
