People's Lobby Day

SOCM members will participate in annual Lobby Day events again this year, and we hope you’re able to join us.  This year’s Lobby Day activities will be particularly exciting, as we’re partnering with several different non-profit organizations from across the state for the People’s Lobby Day on the Hill.  The theme of the day is:

Our State, Our Stories: A Better Tennessee is Possible

SOCM members will be able to engage democracy in a variety of ways throughout the day: there will be tours of the capitol, legislative visits, training opportunities, a rally that will help highlight some of our issues, story telling, demonstrations, and more. We’ll have the opportunity to learn what our sister groups are working on, and the chance to share stories from across the state about what is happening in our communities.

Prepare for an early departure and a full day with busses leaving from East, Middle and West Tennessee early on the morning of the 12th.  We’ll provide lunches, but feel free to bring snacks to share for the bus ride. Our plan is to end the day around 3 pm.

We’re doing an early head count, so please reserve your space on the bus by contacting Organizing Director Kazi Wilkins at kazi@socm.org by Friday, March 5th if you plan to attend.
