Recruit for the Every Member Get a Member Campaign!
In 2011, we need your help to make SOCM a more influential organization for social, economic and environmental justice! When members take action by helping Tennesseans join SOCM, it makes legislative action more successful, campaign work on the state and local level more influential and gives passionate people the tools they need to improve the quality of life in Tennessee. We need at least 700 members to recruit at least one member to grow our SOCM community. By joining the ranks of those 700 members, you're doing your part in taking action for Tennessee!
Be Rewarded!
When you recruit, you will be automatically entered into a drawing to receive a variety of craft items. Top chapter and committee recruiters could also win a dinner cooked by SOCM staff. Learn more about the rewards program by clicking here.
Why should I recruit more members?
We know that there is strength in numbers, in people coming together with their inherent power to effect change in their communities. It is important to all of our work that members continue to bring new people into SOCM who believe in the work we are doing and are willing to join us in fighting for a better future for our communities. Imagine thirty SOCM members packing a legislator's office to ask for an end to mountaintop removal or support for legislation that prevents discrimination! When we grow, we can make change a reality.
How do I recruit more members?
The easiest way to recruit is to first consider your friends and family. Who would be interested in taking action for justice in Tennessee? Then, make phone calls, email or write a letter to start a conversation about SOCM's campaign work, opportunities and membership benefits. Your friends and family can easily become a member by signing up on the SOCM website. Or, they can call 865.249.7488 to sign up by phone. Also, consider getting the word out about SOCM's work through our social networking pages, such as Facebook and Twitter. Help us grow our social media pages by using the "suggest to friends" tab on the SOCM Facebook page.
What are the benefits of a SOCM membership?
New members join a group of more than 2,000 like-minded individuals working for justice in their communities. SOCM member benefits include e-newsletter updates and action alerts, a subscription to the SOCM Sentinel publication, access to membership trainings, lobby events and anti-racism workshops, and a community of friends working toward common goals.
