Internal Committees
|
SOCM's internal committees are established by the Board and are composed of members who oversee various internal functions of the organization.
These committees also make recommendations to the board about new policies or other actions.
|
|
FINANCE:
This committee oversees SOCM's finances, develops a proposed budget, meets before each board meeting to review financial statements that will be presented to the board and assesses how the budget is being met.
SOCM's treasurer serves as the chair and presents a finance report to the board at each board meeting.
The committee also recommends new financial policies as needed, for action by the board.
A subset of the finance committee serves as the SOCM Resource Project Board.
|
PERSONNEL
The Personnel committee has been delegated the responsibility to hire staff, and once a year to oversee staff performance through an evaluation system that is described in SOCM's personnel policies.
The committee also recommends any new personnel policies to the board and serves as one of the steps in SOCM's grievance policy. Committee members are appointed by the SOCM Board.
|
NOMINATING COMMITTEE
The Nominating committee meets once a year to compile a slate of officers and at large members to be voted on at SOCM's annual meeting.
Although this committee consists of the President and chairs of each internal and issue committee and is not open to other SOCM members,
input is requested from all SOCM members before the committee meets.
|
|
OTHER COMMITTEES:
From time to time, as required by developments of the organization, the Board will appoint ad hoc committees to serve in planning and advisory capacities.
These committees may function for several months or several years as needed, and are dissolved when their jobs are completed.
All committee members are current members of SOCM. The board may specify a maximum number of members on each committee. There are no definite term lengths for committee members.
